I'm after a new shaving soap. The Kent soap I've been using is cack and is pretty grotty now. I need something to replace it, something which works well and smells nice would be good.

I like the sound of Colonel Conk lime soap, but it's £6 a lump over here, whereas I've found it in the US for £5 for 3 lumps (although the US site doesn't seem to ship to the UK, despite advertising in UKP as well as $), so I'd rather not pay £6 a lump for it.

Any recommendations would be awesome.

Cheers!

I'm not being funny, but why care about £6/lump? Shaving soap lasts ages. It's really not worth worrying about a couple of quid in difference, is it?

I'm quite liking the King of Shaves Alpha gel at the moment. Haven't tried any solid soap blocks though. I've lost my badger hair brush though.

try a few and see what works best with your skin, as everyones a little differen. so its more down to personal preferance than whats the best.

Sometimes I use Somersets extra minty, sometimes I use a bar of soap (The Dove soap with crystal bits inside!), sometimes I use Gillette shaving soap (the one in the blue circle tub), sometimes I use shampoo/shower gel (!).

It doesn't really matter if you have normal skin, all of these give the same result...

I use a Mach 3 Turbo.

Apart from the fact that some lubricate better than others.....

I prefer shaving cream to make a lather rather than soap.

I use a few different flavours of Tailors Of Old Bond Street, they do make soaps too though.

Been trying out a few samples from Truefitt And Hill. Really are lovely. Pricier, but they last a while.

I found soap to be too much hassle and too thin, I just use Palmolive shaving foam in a can, costs £1 and is really nice stuff IMO.

Palmolive stuff is good, but I've found a big can of pink foam that I cant for the life of me remember the name, but its even better than the Palmolive!

Nice thick lather, and dead smooth shave.
