To start, iv just wall mounted my tv and now i wanted a shelf for my dvd player and sky box just underneath my tv.

All the floating shelfs i look are either the wrong size or too expensive.

I was trying to look at buying the wood and wall brackets seperate but not sure of how to do this.

The size i want is about 300mm x 400mm

Many thanks

Is Thursday 13th random question day?

What is the wall you are fixing it too like? Is it an interior or exterior wall?
What is your budget?

As siad what is the wall your fixing it too and what is your equipment like. Is there anything big and heavy like an av receiver.

It sounds like your DIY foo is limited since you are asking... but you can obviously handle a drill.

I would say if you cant go with floating then buy some LARGE shelf brackets and make them a feature. Along with a nice piece of real timber.

it is a brick wall and i do have all the macenary (spelling wrong :/) drill bits and plugs and screws. Dont know where i wouldget the wood from though

EDIT: It is just a sky box and Dvd player. not too heavy

A timber merchant perhaps, goto an independent one and they should be able to cut it to size for you and even router the edge if you want.
That just leaves you to sand it and paint/varnish.
