Spec me a Shuttle

Hi all,

Well after a disastrous attempt to upgrade from a SN21G5 to a SN26P I've decided to see what the cost is to replace most of the Shuttle :D

Basically I have -

SN21G5
2 x 1Gb PC3200
Athlon X2 4200+
Sapphire X1950 Pro
WD 250Gb Sata2 Hdd
NEC DL Dvd Writer

And I was going to swap the base out and replace the X1950 Pro with a 8800GTS

This meant spending around £400 on replacement parts.

Can anyone spec me something of around the same value if I lose the X2 and PC3200? Or is it not viable?

I really do prefer Shuttles hence posting in the SSF section :)

Thanks,

What happened? Why was it a disaster? What final spec do you want to achieve?

It was a disaster as OcUK dont sell them and the company I bought it from first failed to deliver it next day when I paid the extra carriage (they didn't even pick it but sent me a processed email), then when I did eventually get it and took my system apart I came to put the parts in and found out the "brand new" Shuttle was in fact 2nd hand and scuffed with compound on the heatsink and dust on the fans etc.

So I had to fully reassemble my old system and it wouldn't post first time

Edit - To add even further they have refused RMA as the serial number supplied from the box isn't on there database. They are going to get some serious abuse once this is sorted out :D

Not a good experience so far today.

In terms of hope to achieve, I was looking for a bit more oomph from my system and although I believe the X2 to be great I dont think the X1950 is good enough anymore, I run a 1440 x 900 monitor and I would like max settings on all games :)

So I thought I'd see if anyone had any good specs if I bought a cheaper Shuttle and bought ram etc. I can sell off my old kit if the spec goes over budget (someone may be buying the SN21G5 anyway).

I'm quite a big gaming fan and like upgrading :D

if your not absolutely concrete on the 8800gts and could do with say a factory clocked 8600gt, then might I suggest an SG31G2 ?

I've just ordered one for a cheap cad machine and will be installing an e2180 [which I hope to clock to at least 3.0 gig], 2 gig ddr2 value ram, 500gb HD and an fx1400

total cost around £350, this particular one supports quad cores but only has a 250W psu [which powered my old ati x850xt pe iirc in an sb75g2], so not sure if it will like an 8800gts

I've got a second hand SN25P for sale at the mo, boxed and in good nick, the only thing wrong with it is one of the (two) plastic hinges for the front connector flap at the bottom has gone, but the flap still locks and stays closed, or open however you like it :) Here
