I've had my two guitars for a while now and to be perfectly honest they're criminally under-used. I'm not having any formal lessons, so while i'm proficient enough with basic chords, I don't really know how to play anything. I can play the intro riff to Pink Floyd's wish you were here, heart breaker by led zep which I think are basic blues scales or something? Could people suggest/point me in the direction of some easy songs or pass on some tips for learning.

Thanks!

My tip: Find a song that sound similar to one you aspire to playing, but a bit more simple. Learn that. Then try the harder one, or try make a less complex version yourself.

Song: Rock 'n roll - Led Zeppelin. Fun to play.

Jimi Hendrix - Little wing is a good one to aspire to play. It's quite hard to get all the moves done, let alone sounding good, but once you do it's magic.,

Deep Purple: Knocking At Your Back Door
Deep Purple: Burn

Both of these riffs are similar in terms of the chords and voicings your playing, but Burn requires more technical proficiency as it's at a much faster tempo.

Led Zep: The Ocean

This is another good one as it features a bar in 7/8, so you have to place the accent differently to where you might be used to. The verses are also nice and easy with 1 major bar chord shape and a couple of open chords to play.

If you liked The Ocean then give Black Dog a go :)
