I have £60 give or take to spend on a sleeping bag today as sadly my beavercreak 1000 that saw me through Beavers, Cubs and Scouts and the last festival season is no more.

It will be used primarily for summer camping with perhaps a rare early spring/late autumn outing - not really for winter.

I need the bag today so must be availible in a highstreet shop! :D I'd rather spend as little as possible obviously :D

Depends on what you want to do with it... are you hillwalking, trekking or just general use?

For trekking, size doesn't really matter, but for hillwalking, you want the lightest and warmest you can get (the latter being more important) - so generally spend more on these (down filling with a synthetic shell have the best warmth:weight ratio and compress smaller)

For just general purpose use, mostly over summer with a spot of autumn use, go for a 2/3 season bag with a synthetic filling - these tend to be cheaper and easier to clean. :)

Try Millets. A few weeks ago they were knocking out 2 season viking/eurohike bags, 2 for £20 (£12 each I think). They're nothing special, but were fine for Glastonbury, they dried out fine :D

Are Decathlon branded ones any good?
Unfortunately, I've never heard of them...

For festival use - most sleeping bags will do. Think of the lowest temp you might be in and then look for a sleeping bag with that in the "comfort" range. a 2/3 season will be somewhere in the range of 5-25 C in the comfort range, going down to say -7 in the "extreme" range - so if you're going to be doing lots of sleeping in the -7 to 0 C range (from the sounds of it, unlikely!!), you wouldn't really want to choose a 2/3, but it would be ok for mostly 5-25 with a few nights @ -3 - 5.

Also, going for a "mummy" shaped bag is more efficient at keeping you warm than a rectangular bag - but a rectangular bag can be used as a duvet in an "emergency" ;)

Your best bet is going to your highstreet outdoor shop and seeing what's on sale... at this time of the year, it does tend to be the winter bags @ £200+ on sale, though...

Decathlon Bah ! french supermarket branded stuff.

Any good hedge or haystack will be better, well it was the last time I went to the lakes got drunk out of my skull and walked 8miles down the wrong road.

It was freezing but the hedge was nice.

Just make sure your not wearing white loafers !

I just bought one from Argos called the Pro Action Jaguar 500gsm Mummy Bag for £29.99 - used it about two weeks ago to camp at the foot of Ben Nevis and it was bloomin cold at night and it was sooo comfy and very warm, in fact I had it open half the night as it was so warm.
