As the thread title suggests, I need a camera to catch a mail theif.

I live in an apartment block with a communal post room, all of the boxes mounted on one wall. Several residents have complained of mail being stolen, Royal Mail and the letting agent want nothing to do with it...

Really narking me off, I haven't had post for a couple of weeks though I have now changed address that bank stuff goes. It is more the fact I am having my private mail read by some work shy ******. Need some revenge.

I have thought of a wall mounted camera but it is a no-no as I can't screw it to the wall (don't own it!) and it would be stolen anyhow. I have come to the conclusion what I need is a little camera which I can put in the post box (which is a little too big to be stolen out of the flap lol) which only records on motion, has it's own memory (don't think a wireless camera would have the range or run time...). Light isn't an issue, the room lights come on with a motion sensor.

What I'll do once I have a pic of the ****er I don't know. Hopefully I'll be allowed a laptop in prison!

Any product suggestions, bearing in mind OCUKs policy on linking to other computer resellers! Model should be enough. I've tried the 'Bay but the wee cameras on there look A. Rubbish and B. Small enough to be taken out and not motion sensing

Would rather prefer the chance to use a piece of nail-studded wood on the twit. Plus I think the thefts are taking place between when the mail is delivered (9-11) and when us working drones get home 5-6pm.

If I had the time I'd take the week off and hide in a big box clutching said nail bat

Mouse trap in letter box?

Would set off when the post is put through surely?

Stick a notice up saying "you're being watched" on the letter boxes, or have the postie deliver your mail to the post office until it stops. Pain, but necessary.

There are cameras out there, this one for example but you'd need to knock up a power source unless you've got a power socket you can use. Alternatively, if you've got an old Symbian mobile around I think there's an app that'll motion detect, take a pic then MMS it to a number.

Just take one day off. Or just half a day. Call in and say your legs have fallen off and it'll take until lunch time to stitch them back up, then just wait for him.

Would be hard to watch what anyone was doing without them seeing. They'd hardly carry on with their theiving with me peering through the door. Plus I am not sure if it is every day they steal stuff...

Cant you put a lock on the box? Or ask the sexeh mail lady to leave it somewhere else for you?

The box is locked but has a small flap for new letters. It'd only take a ruler or pen to lift up any letters in it.

Any important mail is being redirected now but it is still getting my goat. Not copmplaining about the Oxfam/Cancer/StavingBabyPleaseHelp.com begging rubbish being taken though :)

Had a card from my mother and a wedding invite gone and thats only what I know about.

Really, really ****ed off that someone can do this. If he/she wanted money from me I would apreciate the chance to have a scuffel over it first!
