Spec me a small SUV.

@ritcH Sadly we had some documentation issues with our flat sale so haven't committed yet. We are looking again now and hoping for a second test drive next week. We didn't really want the First Edition either as although the advert said "Everything you need and Nothing you don't" we felt this was not quite true in our minds.

We will see what's on offer but December would be a no no for us, maybe back to the Jag! New Q3 comes out before December. X2 maybe?

Which engine did you test? our first test was a T5 and it was fine in terms of power etc.

I went for, and tested the diesel D4 AWD auto. I actually need the 4x4 features anyway to get to a family cottage in the middle of no where, which was another reason I hesitated because I don't know how the BMW and Volvo 4x4 systems compare. The BMW salesman made a big deal about the fact the BMW 4x4 system can send all the power to the rear and was better than the Audi system which can only do a 60-40ish split. The Volvo people said theirs was also 95-5 in normal driving and 40-60 if needed, but hopefully it'll be good enough as overall I just liked the Volvo more.

I didn't look into those other cars you mention, as I'm going from a hatchback I wanted a small SUV. I expect the T5 would be a lot more responsive as it has hot hatch performance in SUV clothing! I was considering hot hatches but I just want to slow down now and let the points expire on my license!

It's also worth noting that Volvo are currently offering 0% finance for 3 years hire purchase with 50% deposit.

Hope your move works out, we are also moving due to complete next week and my flat sale was very stressful!

Flat sale has now got a completion date this Friday. Volvo seemed a bit off hand now that they can't supply one until November, Jaguar still trying but still expensive and under specced. Audi will have one less Q5 on Saturday :-)

Picked her up today 2 hours to do the paperwork with 2 x PX to get done. Possibly a little larger than we first intended.

Dang, that's quicker than I expected! Have they only got the one Petrol-engined variant? Bet it's a nice one to drive
