As per title.
Getting a Xbox 360 in a couple of weeks and would like a sub £500 LCD HDTV to go with it (wife aint gonna let mt use the 42" Plasma downstairs :( )

Not fussed which make. But would like if possible

1. Wall mountable
2. Freeview

Thanks in advance guys ;)

You can get a Samsung 32" LCD-TV LE32R32B for £489 + £7 delivery. Doesn't have freeview and won't be back in stock until the 27th Feb.

Can't say where though :(

LG 32LC2DB

Has built in freeview and can be had for £520 delivered last time I checked.

Yep great tv, you actually get proper colours via vga on it too, as you can switch between Video level vga (which the 360 outputs) and PC level vga, Which most tvs use, hence the washed out effect. Sound is actually alright on it too :)

If you can stretch a little further look at the Toshiba 32WLT66. Got mine for 570 a few months ago. Might be cheaper now, its a cracking TV.

Agree with the LG 32LC2D, great VGA input with component like colours (set 360 to 1280*720 and then select RGB->DTV), best of both worlds. The Freeview works very nicely in my experience too. Check AV forums for VGA input issues on the Toshiba 32WLT66 (overscan and limited resolutions from what I've read but don't shoot the messenger).

I don't know how to get this setting on my LG 37LC3R though :( I have adjusted the RGB levels manually which does the same thing I think and gives comparable results.

Edit: I'm a spoon, it does it the same way you do it for the 32LC2DB.

It looks AMAZING now. Component vibrancy and VGA sharpness. I'm well impressed and will be recommending this to everyone!

Awesome isnt it? Just proves that the vga output on the 360 is fine, providing you have the right display.

Been watching Lost series 2 on it, and it looks just sublime now.

The inteference patterns are still there but they are far less noticeable on blacks so I'm more than happy. My LG now far surpasses me Dell 1801, NEC 20WGX2 and Sammy LE32R74 for 360 VGA output!

I owe you one... LG really should include better documentation on DTV/VGAPC though as I could not access it when outputting 1360*768 and would have had no idea if I hadn't read it on here.

Another vote for the Tosh.

Good black levels, looks awesome on component and also, unlike most HD, does a good job with SD images

SD image quality is the prime reason I went with the LG (along with great DVI and VGA compatibility for PC use and 1:1 mapping). The XD3 engine is supurb and the best I have seen.

Does it have audio out?
so I can send the sound to my stereo, or do I need to do a scart output job?

Yes it does iirc. I replaced my 32LC2DB for a 37LC3R though so I'm not 100% sure. The LC3R does though and I can't imaging the LC2DB not having it.

Probably better for PC use but I didnt think the OP was interested in that.

Toshiba takes some beating on dark images

Better for SD content too as far as I can tell but I can't comment on blacks as I was testing in a brightly lit store and all the TVs appear to have good blacks under those portable suns they call "flourescent lighting".

Cool, im happy to help, i was rather shocked when i stumbled across the feature. There should be more info on this, a lot of people just presume that the 360 has poor vga output when really its their displays...

But yeah its cool, you can buy me virtual pint some time :D

Just ordered the LG.. which was difficult as i dont really like LG but it seems to come out on top above the Sammy.. soooo lets hope you guys havnt let me down :)

I got it for £530 inc delivery and a SCART cable.. which i didnt really want. :)

: i noticed you said it dsnt support 1360x768 over DVI why is this?? Does it support it over VGA?
