Hello people!

First post here cause I'm confused about all my choices for my new PC! I mainly play Lord of the Rings Online and would love to run this in ultra high settings.

My budget is circa £400, I dont need a keyboard, mouse or monitor as I have those already.

The PC will mainy be used to play that game and the usual browsing of the net so any help is appreciated.

I have been looking at the AMD Bulldozer chips, then I started looking at Sandybridge i3 then the i5 popped up and now I'm totally confused! I'm not looking at playing the most demanding games just LOTRO in ultra high all the time.

So any help that you guru's can offer would be much appreciated!

Regards,
Ross

Still new at this. Sorry i'm somewhat overbudget too. You didn't say if you need OS? If you do may be worth just windows 8 previewing your way through for now.

Would this be somewhat future proof so to speak? Also if in time I was to look at overclocking, would it be possible to do it with the above bundle?

Unfortunately to the best of my knowledge the AMD processors are not actually so great when looking at overclocking. I compromised on the processor because the alternate build had no HDD (not sure if you need one?).

Ideally you'd be able to afford one of the I5 xxxxK processors for overclocking. I think quad core technology is quite important for newer/future games so I went for AMD.

The H61 can take the latest cpu's, but will not allow for overclocking, you need a K series CPU and a Z77, Z68 or p67 board.

dont go for AMD currently they are way behind intel. the i3 sandybridge performs about the same if not abit better than the x4 in gaming

Say I was to up the price too circa £500, would this get me an i5 2500k? Also what motherboard would I be best going with?

Ive been looking at the Zalman T9 case and the GTX 560 Ti card from what I've been reading today, what would be the best build for that? I know I stated only for LOTRO but if I can get something a little bit more future proof for some extra pennies then I wouldnt mind if I could justify it!

Nope, just done a quick build with a IB CPU, £10 more than the i5 2500k with a 560TI cpu, and the rest of the items and this comes to £600+

I think on the budget you are looking at, a good amount of RAM/Good GPU is more important than your processor. If you're lucky, on £400 you'll manage to squeeze an intel i3 processor in there but honestly i'm not sure the tradeoff in GPU/RAM is worth the extra processing power. Intel i3's aren't very good at overclocking either.

That's my take on it anyhow.
