Hey all,

Well its that time again, the washing machine doesn't turn at all after getting half way through a load and has a rather nasty burnt smell at the back of it. I could get it repaired, but its Hotpoint and quite frankly its crap anyway. I wanted the bosch at the time but oh no she wanted 1400 spin not 1200. You can imagine how happy she was when I said "you know that 1200rpm Bosch - that'd still be spinning at 1200rpm"

So ocuk - What says you.... My brand choices are Bosch, Samsung or LG. Can anyone suggest any others, or which is the best brand out of that bunch? Preferably something reasonably quiet as the kitchen is semi open plan here.

Thank you :)

You have a bosch from when they were built like tanks though, I'm not sure the current ones are and from what I have been reading you need to get one not built in spain too! :(

Got a used miele (W3204) for ~£300 off ebay, been fine for a year so far but I havent stressed it much tbh. It goes to 1500 spin, but I keep it at 900.

Get a Samsung ecoBubble one, they currently come with 5 year warranty
Having just got the washer/dryer WD0804W8E, coming from an old Hoover that gave up the ghost after 9 years - I can comment on how quiet they are :)

Are they that bad now, quality gone downhill, might have to change brands, was thinking of changing it this year.

Samsung EcoBubble and the LG directdrives seem to get very favourable comments and come with decent warranties.
integrated tho and price shoots up with features dropping fast :(

Ended up paying £400 for a waching machine from Ikea pretty much because of the 5 year warranty lol

I bought a Samsung Ecobubble a few months ago from Currys.
I paid £400 (on offer - was £480), but there was a 'free camera' offer on that sold for £130 (£90 Amazon). I price matched washing machine on John Lewis to save £55, then used Topcashback for another £6. Sold camera for £70.
I paid £20 for delivery but the complete retards who delivered it could not fit it, so they refunded that, plus they took away my old POS for free!
Came in at £280 for a good brand with a 5 year warranty. It even plays a little tune when it is finished!

Avoid cheap washing machines. Buy cheap and you will need a new one in <3 years time.

Anecdotaly - an old landlord of mine replaced a broken washing machine with a Samsung, which I found to be excellent for the relatively short period of time (versus the expected life span of such a machine) I used it for, before I moved out.

Which model please mate?

A sink, A bowl of water , A box of washing power and a female

Cheap and can last for years.....:p

She costs a fortune when doing any heavy loads and makes about 100db of noise on the mouth spin cycle!

Well gents, spurred on by my uncle I decided to have a look at the machine to see if it was fixable.

Took the machine out of its hidey hole and low and behold a mound of carbon on the floor. This machine is run once a day most days and some days twice so it gets a lot of use.

The brushes are next to worn out and so I figured that I would buy some brushes and fit them (£20) and see if she goes. If it does I'm going to put some money away each month and splash out on a Miele with 10yr guarantee sometime later in the year.
