Spec me a watch! (£500)

Let me know if you find one as I'll have it as well. Was looking at watches up to 4k today (though only as waiting for gf to finish shopping) and even at that price couldn't see anything I would actually pay more than 20 quid for.
 
Get a Seiko Automatic Relay :p or is it perpetual Calendar ? The one that if you don't wear it for a while, the hands stops but soon as you pick it up, it remembers the correct time and moves the hands in the correct position, and you never have to replace the battery.
 
I've had 2 Oris watches and been very happy with both.

I think they're great value for money. You're not paying for the name as much as you are with Tag, Omega...

Automatic means that they are powered by the movement of your wrist. The same as most high end watches like Rolex and Omega (not as good a movement as these though). The watch will work for 2-3 days without being worn.

I like that they have a glass back so you can actually see the movement.

The BC3 is my favorite and does day and date but only comes with a metal or rubber strap.
