Right, I'm after a weights bench for home. Problem is I live in a small 1 bed flat, so don't have much space to swing a cat etc. So I'm after a small bench, ideally collapsible and with foam rollers. Will only be used for dumb bells and crunches etc. Any suggestions of decent makes, or anything I should look out for?

A swiss ball might be a better option for you. Doesnt sound like you will be doing anything really heavy (if you were then you'd want a decent bench) so a swiss ball would be great.

Cheap - yep
easily stored - yep
can do loads on it - yep

:)

Thanks for the suggestion Morba. I think I would still prefer a bench if possible though. I don't lift anything really heavy at the moment, but hopefully the weight will slowly increase. I have started lifting relatively recently, but my priority at the moment is to cut (ie get rid of the belly flab) and general fitness (planning on running the great north run in September). Once I am happy with the fat loss, I plan to start bulking up and increasing the weight as much as possible. Did buy another 20Kg of plates today for my dumbbells which should keep me going for a while.

Having a quick look around, and something like the Body-Solid GFID225 look ok. Any thoughts? I would rather not spend more than that at the moment;

That'd be fine. Check the gymratz thread as Morba suggested something for about half the price of that which would be as good.

Personally though a gym membership would be best :)

£200 for a bench that wont really be stressed?

You would be surprised what you can do on a swiss ball. I'm ~130kg and press my 45s (90kg) on a swiss ball.

That said, the bench looks very capable and if Matt and Pete rate it enough to be promoting it then you can't go much wrong.

Benny, the one i suggested in the other thread doesnt fold down, its a big space hog :D
I guess you could stick a blanket and a pillow on it and sleep on it though! lol

body solid are great and anything from the gym ratz website is top quality stuff, so its a great bench.

why do you need a bench? cant you just lie on the floor? i love the idea of this bench and the whole folding system, but i don't know what you could do with it, that couldn't be done without it.

the only time i use my bench is for bench pressing inside a power rack, leg curls and preacher curls and this bench doesnt have a leg curl or preacher curl attachment option.

i would get a swiss ball, or get a body solid bench which has the leg curl and preacher curl attachment in your situation. this folding bench is an unnecessary piece of equipment, they have solved a problem which didn't exist.

your also better off looking on ebay or gumtree if budget is an issue.
