Spec me a wifi router for plusnet fibre.

Have the tp-link all setup, was really easy. However, quite underwhelmed by the wifi performance. PS4 in the bedroom in a cabinet was getting a low signal but it was ok with the Sky router and also the plusnet router. With this, it's struggling to even pick it up.

Have I done something wrong with the antennas perhaps?

I also noticed with my iPhone in the bedroom the 5ghz wifi has a low-medium strength but the 2.4 is full strength. Is that to be expected or is the iPhone 6 not that great on 5ghz?

Gigabyte ethernet however is working nicely.

*sigh*

Updated the firmware, now getting 14-16Mbps down (up is still 19), can only assume I'm getting an issue like StevieP where it's seen 2 disconnects and dropped my speed even though the routers reporting downstream of 79995

Wifi 2.4ghz range is still worse than the plusnet router so guess it wasnt a firmware change needed.

I have a TP-Link router as well, tried all sorts but really not impressed with the wireless coverage.

Think i will swap it out for an Asus one at some point.

No idea

I know my 5ghz is not as strong as 2.4ghz but mines be a dream.

Speeds back to normal this morning, logs suggest the dsl connection reset around 4am last night.

Wifi, I might have solved but need to test tonight when I have time. After my last post I was closing down the update firmware pdf and noticed something I missed....it says after an upgrade you should factory default the settings and then reapply. So I did that, my iPhone was showing a stronger signel in the bedroom so will need to check the PS4.

Of it could be wishful thinking!

Ok so wifi's still not great on the PS4 but in reality no worse than the other routers. The no connection/low signal issue I had to start with went so I'll assume the firmware update then reset fixed that.

Ordered a plug in wifi extender to try and correct the blackspot.

All in all, I am mostly happy with the router just the wifi I find a let down as I expected an improvement over a cheap/bundled router.
