Spec me a winter jacket

My Alpha Industries parka is ridiculously warm. It looks a bit better than the usual outdoorsy brands, but I suspect it's not as good in heavier rain.

I'm not too bothered about waterproofing as long as it's good enough in a light shower. I want something casual looking and easy to commute in. Something that'll Keep me warm stood in the cold on a train platform.

When it comes to splashing out on new coats I usually just go to go outdoors and try a load on. Generally the ones I like I don't like once I've tried them on.

You can always read reviews first and have an idea of a handful to try on too.ive had a Jack Wolfskin before it is a good make and was decent quality (german)

I generally stick to British brands for outdoor gear. Not sure why,;not a specific reason but the quality has always been good and to my taste

I usually go for regatta for cheap
Craghoppers for mid range
Montaine and rab for decent quality

Generally find the more you pay the more they tailor to a specific function be it waterproof etc. The bigger brands tend to focus on layering systems for outdoor gear

Honorable mention for Trespass, may not be the most fashionable but I have one of the their hooded jackets with the fleece lining and its nice and toasty once on. More or less fully waterproof too.

Shawrey

Sounds the sort of thing I'm after. Want something fairly casual and minimal looking but good for commuting. Will take a look.
