Hi sorry but im properly lost on laptops.

Currently i have a HP DV2000 which i now find to be underpowered for what i need to do so im hoping somebody could point me in the right direction.

screen size is not too important as the model i have at the moment has a smaller screen.

basically im a IT developer and need to be run Sharepoint Server / Microsoft Dynamics CRM / Visual Studio 2008 / SQL server 2005 and other development tools at the same time through a VM

so memory is important as is hdd space and cpu i guess.

anybody any advice on this front ? I'm paying for this so it has to be a reasonable spec pc with a reasonable budget upto 1k tops i guess.

i dont really know anything about laptops cpu etc so if somebody could point me to a decent informational link on cpu specs etc that would be cool also.

If I were you, I would start looking at the Vaio range; they are very sleek, and will have more than enough power for your needs. Alternatively, OcUK do some lovely Samsungs.

It has loads of space, and the 12.1" screen should be fine for you, and would also be great for commuting. It has a Core 2 Duo, which will allow you to run multiple programs without the system stuttering. The 320GB hard drive is plenty big enough for what you will be using it for. The 4GB RAM will also allow you to run multiple programs at the same time, and will allow the system to run faster.

All in all, this laptop is perfect for what you need. Give me a shout if you have anymore questions. Chris.
