Spec me a Zwift setup

FrenchTart awared me the Kurt Kinetic Road Machine Smart is available around the price range so worth considering too.

Have the TickR and recommend it, much better than my old Garmin and more reliable. Also plenty of Wahoo activity apps you can use it with when out & about or in the gym too. Pairs to the Concept 2 Rower with PM5 console for example.

I moved a while back matey.

Left Watford in err, 2010, lived in bromley for a while, back in Gloucestershire 2011, moved to Wiltshire in 2014, and now back in Gloucestershire !

Been a bit all over the place, but hopefully settled for a while. I imagine the S14a is long gone ?

(I've ordered that turbo in a pack with a matt and wheel support, the HRM and a quad lock case and mount)

Yes the s14a was written off by an old man crashing into it when it was parked outside my house a few years back unfortunately. Was a sorry end to a good little car.

Only reason I was asking was if you were still local, I had a turbo you could have had for nowt as I upgraded over the holidays. Looks like you are sorted out anyway.

Just got it all set up and did my first ride.

Let's just say 2 years of doing zero exercise and putting on two stone leaves you in quite a shameful state.

The smart trainer seems good, but the speed seems to be out quite a bit - saying I was doing 2-3 mph when I clearly was doing a lot more than that.

Now for cadence and speed it seems this trainer guesstimates the figures it sends into the app.

I've seen several options that will work with strava and zwift.... any views on this approach ?

Not sure what you are asking but you could add on a speed and cadence sensor if you wanted. Garmin and Wahoo do them.

Sorry I've not been clear.

It looks like my turbo trainer doesn't actually have a built in cadence sensor that is fitted to the bike, and the speed reading on Zwift is seemingly far too inaccurate - at points I was doing 3mph when I clearly wasn't, and equally then doing 25mph when I was in a cooldown.

I'll just grab a cadence and speed sensor I think else this won't be as productive as it could be.

Oh I see, I wouldn't focus too much on the speed aspect of it as you say, it's wildly inaccurate and ultimately kind of irrelevant. Depending on what your goals are, are you wanting to improve overall performance or just wanting to spin for some exercise?

If you want to improve overall performance then focus on the power aspect, understand what ftp is and what your working zones are and use training plans based on that.
