Spec me a....

fairly decent system fir gaming on a 22" monitor.

I REALLY haven't been keeping up with anything over the past few years and realised I'm completely out of my depth with the latest Core nomenclature, so could do with some help. I'm not going to be playing anything particularly demanding and have a modest budget of about 500 quid (!) so I'm hoping somebody can save my bacon!

Are the AMD processors much cop in comparison to the Intel offerings these days? I swapped over to Intel after getting bored with my old mobile Athlon rig quite some time ago and noticed a hell of a difference?

OS wise, I'm probably looking at XP and then I'll upgrade to 7 when it's released

you will only do better if you go i7, but that's out of your budget im afraid. If you can expand the budget I will build an i7 rig for you.

Mainstream is owned by AMD at the moment. Intel will probably try to get it back by releasing i5, so will see how it goes

But yo ucan't go wrong with this spec.
If you are going to overclock i can also suggest Coolermaster Geminii S cooler for the processor (not available on this site) for about £20 and maybe get the 600w PSU then - just in case =)
