Hi,

I currently have a Lenovo Y740 2070-MaxQ laptop which is not bad at all but i'm after something with a bit more punch that I can tweak and tinker with. I've been out of the scene a very long time and I've done some very limited research on what's out there. I have some basic requirements though;

-£750 (if possible)
It will be built in a Cooler Master NR200 ITX case
-I'm looking at having a Ryzen based setup, it seems the Ryzen 3300x strikes up a perfect balance between performance and value but no where stocks it.
-Samsung Evo M.2 970/80 (512gb is fine for now)
-Large SATA SSD
-I like to overclock and tweak as much as possible.
-suitable to game on a 3440x1440 monitor

This is all I know, I have no idea what motherboards are good, I also dont know what type of graphics card I should be getting.. will the RTX 20's still suffice or do I need to get the 30's.. This seems where most of the budget will be going from what i'm seeing. Same with the RAM.

Let me know what you think,

*edit, just looked up the pricing on even the 2070's and wow! I'll up my budget to 1.2k and would get a used GPU.

cheers.

3300x haven't been in stock for months, but I wouldn't advise anyone who wants to play demanding games or software to get one as they can cause stutter in demanding games. I have never overclocked any of my Ryzens beyond allowing auto boost, as I have seen reports of them degrading. Your budget would be tight if gpu were at MRSP but next to impossible now without a Nvidia FE card, here are some components based on what you want but I would personally change the ssd from Samsung to WD black 1TB as you only have 1 nvme slot on this board, b550 itx boards have 2 slots but cost more. I have not added a large sata ssd as you will find it easy to choose that. PSU is what is in stock.

MSI B450I GAMING PLUS AC (Socket AM4) Mini-ITX Motherboard £119.99
AMD Ryzen 5 3600 Six Core 4.2GHz (Socket AM4) Processor - Retail £169.99
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-25600C16 3200MHz Dual Channel Kit - Black (CMK16GX4M2B32 £79.99
Silverstone SX700 700W 80 Plus Platinum SFX Modular Power Supply £139.99
Samsung 970 EVO Plus 500GB M.2 2280 PCI-e 3.0 x4 NVMe Solid State Drive £89.99
£599.9

Leaves you money to look for a sata ssd & GPU. Really, minimum recommended by Nvidia for 1440p is a 3070 or better, and for AMD 6700xt or better.
If you can beat the bots to a 6700xt you might find one for a bit under £600 at some point, otherwise set up a stock alert to get a FE card from the nvidia shop

I'd keep an eye out for the 11400F which should easily out perform a 3600 while coming in a bit cheaper, pair it with the new B560 chipset.

4k gaming is not (very) compatible with this budget unless you want to game on medium settings.

Now I know that cyberpunk is horribly optimised but if you want to play that on 4k you need 3070 for high and 3080 for ultra settings.
2070 wouldn't even hit 1440p on high above 60fps.

Depends on what you want to play though.
