Was on the phone to rejoin the AA for basic roadside assistance at £42. Would have been £30 but my car is over 10 years old. Then I get a carrot dangled in front of me by the salesgirl with breakdown repair cover instead. This includes roadside assistance, plus AA pay for any repairs (clutch, engine, battery, etc) up to £500 and I only pay £35 or the difference if it's over £500. It's £111 with that cover, which is internet discounted.
Last time I had my clutch replaced was about 2 years ago, at an AA approved garage. Quotes from garages at that time ranged enormously, up to £1000, but the AA garage (now called Halfords Autocentre) did it for £500. So looking at that AA repair option, it would presumably have covered it with me paying only £35.
Now I don't know what to do, lol. I was all happy to just get basic roadside at £42, but the breakdown repair cover is fairly tempting and now I can't decide. What should I do? Anyone here got breakdown repair cover? Is it as worthwhile as it sounds?

) question for now then. When quidco first took me to the AA page, there was a quidco logo half way down that AA page and a reference in the URL (AffiliateQuidco&awc..), but once I clicked on "You can also create your own breakdown cover package to suit you" and created my package, there's no quidco references anymore on the following pages or in the URL. So, I should assume I'm still buying via quidco? I'm ready to buy if so. This is the current page I'm looking at.
