Afternoon all!!

im looking for an acoustic guitar for a christmas pressie, it will be their first guitar, but i thought it best to get something thats half decent as i'll only get frustrated if it doesnt sound nice!

i have a budget of around £150.
looking for something a little unusual if possible. its also for a young lady, so dreadnaught bodies wont be the best idea i dont think! but either way, opinions welcome!

many thank! :0

Crafter TRV23... You can't spend a better £150 on a guitar IMO. It's a travel guitar, full scale but compact- the body's about the size of my telecaster though it's just over 3 inches deep. It's a wee bit bright but it's not thin sounding like most small guitars (though naturally it's quieter than a full size geetar), and it plays more or less like a Les Paul. Comes with a decent gig bag too. And available in black. Solid sitka spruce top with mahobany back and sides too.

I love it, I bought it officially for taking to festivals and mate's flats, and then sold my Taylor Baby as I almost never played it after I got the Crafter. It's not the best fingerpicker because of the size, mind.

ohhh interesting, gonnaa check this one out :) thanks for that!!

anybody else got any other ideas? just so i have a few to choose from

i have looked at the Epiphone Performer ME, which is quite nice, or looks it anyway! anybody know how it plays? size's ?

Never met one of those. I meant to add, don't even consider one of those awful Telecoustics or Stratacoustics, they sound like biscuit tins with elastic bands stretched over them, not that there's any components in them as high quality as the average biscuit tin :D

maybe i like the sound dof biscuit tins!!... mmm biscuits! hehe

that crafter looks nice, any chance you could post a few pics of yours? or email em too me if you get some time? sry to be cheeky

Hmm, don't think I have any. It looks just like this:

Though there's a black one too.

Does she know you're getting this as a present? If so then take her down to the local guitar shop and see whatever feels the most comfortable/sounds the best and is within your budget, in my experience guitars vary greatly and acoustics even more so.

unfortunatly not! which is a bit of a bummer really, but im crap at keeping surprises so i figured id try my best not to mess this one up!

shes fairly tall, like 5ft 8 and fairly slim, i think she'd fit into most guitars other than the jumbo/dread bodies

travel crafter looks nice, washburn also do a travel one which is really nice, and comes with hardcase etc...

anybody know what the Epiphone i mentioned above is like?
