Hey Guys
Just had O2 20meg interweb installed recently and i'm shocked at how shoddy the "O2 Wireless Box IV" is! I believe it's just a Thomson TG587nV2 with some custom firmware on?
I've been having wireless issues and dropouts everyday day, it takes about 5 minutes to start up and finally establishes a net connection after it's been turned off or restarted and the settings you can configure are few and far between
So, a new modem and/or router. I still have my Linksys WRT54GL with Tomato on that I used to use before moving house (no VM connection here
). I'd love to use that again but would require a modem to go with it. Would happily buy a modem/router all in one jobby as an alternative too.
In an ideal world I'd love 1 box (saves on space and power) that could handle the ADSL connection, that I could drop Tomato on, had gigabit LAN and wireless N lol does such a device exist?
I've noticed that Linksys used to do an ADSL modem and switch that is aesthetically in the same style as the WRT54GL. Would this handle the 20meg connection?
Any ideas or suggestions are welcome
