Spec me an RPG

Tsk, tsk, Omaeka. 2 posts and an edit before you mention Dark Souls?! I feel violated :p

Another vote for Dark Souls here. I played it during the original launch on console so I can't speak for the PC version (though I'd wager it's the superior version), but it's a fantastic game. One of the best Action RPGs I've played in years and I couldn't stop myself from playing through it about 3 times in a row. Ignore what people say about insane difficulty as it's often largely exaggerated, and really isn't that hard if you're just patient and determined. You will die, but it's a learning experience so you just need to keep at it, getting a little further each time instead of dying and throwing your controller out the window.

If you have any interest in arpg's then titan quest + immortal throne. Path of Exile is also really good as has been mentioned, also Diablo II, Van Helsing

Anyone played Venetica? quite enjoyed that game.

You could backtrack from Skyrim to play Oblivion, Morrowind, and there is also the Neverwinter series.

I occasionally play FONV... still haven't completed it after over a year! FO3 I played obsessively though so +1 to that!

I hammered FO3 on 360 and then pc, new vegas I played for a few hours and never touched it again

I'm determined to play Oblivion, I could never get into it, but now I have a PC that can run it with nice graphic mods I should try again. Not that graphics were the reason I couldn't get into it.

It's worth giving it another poke. It doesn't have that amazing opening like FO3 to hook you, but the people who can join your cause and the overall story line are (I reckon) more compelling once you get stuck into them.

Obviously, YMMV, but I think the quality of the game further in is worth pushing past the slow start.

Can I ask, did you play it right after FO3? I often find in games of this type, that coming from your well-developed and powerful character to a new, faceless rookie can be a real jab in the guts.

Nah it was a good year gap between it just didn't feel like a new game to me and more like a dlc package.

I know :( no idea why it took me so long! must have been tired. :p

Dark Souls really isn't all that difficult, no. I've died more on The Witcher 2 than I ever did Dark Souls and I'm barely half way through.

Try some aRPG's like Titan's Quest;Grim Dawn;Diablo III and keep an eye out for Lineage Eternal.

They are smaller isometric views but you can customize your character just as much and there's usually a semi-decent story to follow.

Well I have news for you. Oblivion is very poorly optimised, rapes and maxes out just one core of your CPU, and leaves the rest of your system sources practically untouched.....

.....that and the game is rancid p1sh, just as Skyrim was, but if you liked that.....

Another recommendation of mine would be

Divinity, Eco Draconis (with the dragon saga update or wotever it is). Tremendously original and entertaining RPG adventure.

Bit of an off-the-wall suggestion here, but have you considered the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series? They are FPS, but do have some RPG elements.

I never understood why people were so mental on Oblivion. It's not a patch on Morrowind IMO and I find it painful trying to play it again now. The oblivion gate levels are boring and repetitive too.

I have played it before, just not very far as I didn't really like it. I did enjoy skyrim but Morrowind remains my favourite. I should probably try that overhaul mod.

The overhaul mod is amazing, I can't get the enhanced grass working though for some reason.
