spec me an RTS!

I never found LOTR:BFME very balanced, just build loads of ranged troops, then kill anything that gets in range before they can even get to you.

Kinda fun trying to zerg tho :p
 
i would ALWAYS recommend the Warcraft 3 Games - simply epic story lines and brilliant brilliant game play. Plus the graphics still look pretty today.
 
May i just point out supreme comander ruined all RTS games for me. I play supcom and then i try play another game and im like :o WHY CANT I ZOOOOMM OUT. Everything feels far to zoomed in now after playing supcom. Great game though, just ruined all the others tahst all :p
 
Age of empires 3 is an extremely good RTS. It keeps you on your toes all the time. You'll be macroing, microing, scouting and raiding all the time if you want to be good. It's a hell lot of fun. The natives, trade posts and card decks also add a LOT to the variety, fun and challenge. I think the CNC series is stale in comparison.
 
i felt ages of empires 3 was actually one of the worst rts games i have ever played, which was really disappointing seeing as it's prequels were so good.

best rts i have ever played with friends was star wars clone campaigns (star was mod of age of empires 2 with improvements). the best game i have played which allows you to focus on defense or attack or both, where as any other i have played has been far too based on attacking the enemy. very good as this way i can play with friends and have one defending our base while the other attacking the enemy.

I think for me the biggest impact from RTS in the last couple of years was Coh, supcom was not far behind but Coh made my jaw drop could not believe how good it was.

Medievil sucks, RTW, then get the Rome total realism mod, then get the mod of the RTR mod which is called imperator 2, and add in a 4tpy mod and your set.
