Spec me an ultimate gaming system (£2700 budget)

no game this year would benefit from 6 core, any game that users 4 core doesn't use them fully as yet as most programmers are too lazy to do it correctly, any game which even says it supports four core when tested don't do it justice i found as yet, so for me for this year any maybe even next unless things change with the newer xbox getting more core support 4 faster cores for now would be better than 6 slower ones for most games made and even those being made, i'm waiting for rome2 later this year, i'll be happy if it even supports 4 cores at all, yes it will work with 4, but fully support 4 cores and hyperthreading as well, well that's a totally different kettle of fish.

Did you take a look at our build here. We added an additional third 3TB drive. This would fit within your budget. The totall came in at around £2,200 which would leave you some cash for mouse keyboard speakers and monitor. There are some pictures there to give you an idea how it looks. Outstanding performance and eats through any game aswell as video editing and anything else that has been thrown at it.

Hope it is a little help.

Alan / Gixer1970, users wants more ram to start off with, some versions of home won't do it, needs to be pro at least.

Asus Geforce GTX 690 4096MB GDDR5, good card but way over priced and customer want's sli / crossfire which could do with your card in budget, and nobody here would as there cheaper options that are just as good and specced

you'res is pre built and pre OC, this is a custom build for diy, better storage and faster sdd, better board, more ram, a good spec monitor with liquid cooling for most spec's

once built this would be faster and run cooler if setup right hopefully, but your's is a good build as well saying that, but you get more when you diy and can alter the parts to suit, going either way wouldn't be a bad move tbh, it's just about choice for diy

As most of the forum will agree; £2700 is overkill for single screen 1080p gaming even for new titles with 'Ultra' settings. If you're dead set on spending the full amount, however, you could look into investing in a high quality chair. Serious suggestion. With a killer rig I'm sure you'll be spending countless hours on end sat in it so you better get comfortable

Certainly I will wait until the new 'stuff' arrives, think Haswell and Titan. Since I am spending an absurd amount of money I want to be sure that I blow it on worth while upgrades. I don't want to spend it only to realise I should have waited another month for the new stuff?

What do you guys think?

i would wait, it's too close tbh, and you may kick yourself if you don't, wait and see and if new socket & chips is or isn't all it's cracked up to be, then you can always have another build speced for you.

good luck in what ever you decide

Hope you make the right choice because that is one hell of a lot of money to spend! Wish I could have a PC budget like that!! Good luck!
