So, I am looking to upgrade to the AM3 platform and am looking for some advise on what to get. I have £220 to spend, but can go a little higher. For this price I need a CPU and motherboard to replace the components in my sig. The RAM is in hand.

I am thinking the Phenom II x4 955 is the way forward, but which mobo would you couple it with? From what people have been saying, it is a good idea to avoid ASUS, what do you think of that? Anyway, here are my mobo requirements:
  • Must be ATX
  • Must have an 800 chipset
  • Hybrid or discrete XFire support would be nice
  • Should support USB 3.0 and 6Gb/s SATA

I was thinking this:

or the Gigabyte GA-870A-UD3 870

But neither of these support Xfire or hybrid XFire despite having 2 PCIE slots?

Sorry, but what are your thoughts about ASUS, many have said bad things about them, but not using them really limits my options.
