Spec me an upgrade

Hi,

I'm looking to upgrade slightly into the future (once I get my pennies saved)

I'm wanting to go into PC more instead of getting a next gen console, so i would like something that will be future proof for a few years.

Not quite sure on a budget just yet, but lets just say £500 for now.

I will be doing lots of rendering, gaming etc

Current spec, would like to try and keep as much of it as I possibly can (I expect a mobo and processor upgrade will be needed, maybe a new psu and some more RAM)

If you want future proofing, it isn't with an FM2 set up.
AM3+ may not be future proof, but at your budget an FX6300 with AM3+ is probably your best bet.

Thanks. I've edited my previous post to to try and make my current specs stand out a bit more.


Say I want to splash a little more cash and go the i7 route. What would you all recommend then?

Ah, that's great.

so is my current graphics card good? It plays everything out at the moment at max settings. So should be good for a few years if I start going to medium when I need to?

the idea with my spec is its Xfire ready, so in a years time if it starts to struggle get a second 7870 and Xfire away. :)
