Hi

Im getting married at the end of the month

So i need to get a good few bottles of champagne in .

I don't have a budget in mind per bottle but don't want cheap stuff or stuff that tastes cheap.

So could you guys please recommend me some please.

If going for a non-vintage then I personally feel that Taittinger is the best you will easily find in the UK. Should be able to pick it up for about £25 per bottle.

Here it is £26.50 http://www.thechampagnecompany.com/...ger-brut-reserve-champagne-75cl/prod_456.html

IF you can't find any at that price the Heidsick Monopole Gold Top is available for £28 per bottle - £23 if you buy 10 or more at Majestic. That is a good champagne at the price.

thanks for that ill take a look.

i think the £25 -/+ £5 a bottle mark is fine. any more and its starting to be silly money.

Veuve every time for me :)

Louis Roederer and Piper Heidseck are quite nice, but my favourite around the price mark is Veuve.

Have you checked that your venue allows corkage? Ours does not.

Another vote for Veuve. Very good champagne. Mind you, Pol Roger Sir Winston Churchill would be my choice were money no object.

Don't get Champagne, go English! The Nyetimber 2004 is around £28. I've got a bottle of the Blanc de Blancs coming later in the week which is meant to be pretty fantastic. £35 a bottle though.

You get much more for your money with English sparkling wine, because you're not paying for the heavy marketing and name you get with Champagne.

yes they allow a toast. but ill make it a very long one ha ha

Not a big Veuve fan, it just doesn't warm well. Too acidic.

might not be good for me because i suffer for heart burn all the time

Ruinart rosé for my money is my recommendation. It's just that little bit more special than a standard brut, even the one's already mentioned.

It's a little more expensive but then you hopefully won't be getting married again ;)

ha ha hopefully not ill take a look at that. need to go to a champagne testing place ha ha

Ruinart isn't worth the extra money in my book. For the best value for money recently, I've found the Mercier (brut and rosé) very good. They are about 19-20 euros a bottle in my local supermarket, but would easily stand up against a Veuve.

Not quite a Louis though. Louis is much more biscuity and yeasty and tends to have a fuller flavour, whereas the likes of the above are much more crisp.

Whatever you do, don't go for Lanson of any sort. It's heartburn central and the worst of the "named brands" going.

For English, Nyetimber is very nice though. It's what I had when I proposed to the Lady.
