Spec Me: Custom WC Loop

OK, so I'm now unable to contain my need to watercool my PC and planning what to buy for it. So far I've come up with this:

YOUR BASKET
2 x XSPC EX240 120mm Radiator - Black £37.99 (£75.98)
1 x EK-Supreme LTX CSQ Intel CPU Waterblock £29.99
4 x Aerocool DS Edition Fan - Red - 120mm £12.49 (£49.96)
2 x Mayhems X1 UV Red Premixed Watercooling Fluid 1L £7.99 (£15.98)
1 x Primochill Primoflex Advanced Tubing 16/10 - Clear £5.99
Total : £177.91 (includes shipping : ).

Now; the perfectionist in me want to ensure that everything matches, so I have included 2 of the same 240mm rads into this spec. However, I've been thinking about adding this to the front to aid the cooling capabilities:

YOUR BASKET
1 x XSPC RX240 Dual Fan Radiator V3 £64.99
Total : £64.99 (includes shipping : ).

Does anyone see an issue with this?

I will be sourcing a pump-res combo elsewhere and the fittings too!

I have that LTX (cheap from the MM) on another rig, and while it does do the job, the build quality leaves a little to be desired. The screw mechanism that holds it to the board, along with the plexi arms don't inspire a lot of confidence.
Put it next to my Koolance 380i and it's like a toy out of a cracker :D If you can stretch to it, get the Supremacy :)

think the supremacy is a few degrees better performing (iirc)
besides you could do some mining and buy some parts with btc from you know where =)
i spent only 200 quid on watercooling my rig instead of the 500 odd i would have otherwise lol

DS fans are nice for aesthetics pretty poor for rads, especially higher FPI ones. They're very noisy on full whack, and still perform poorly. If you can find some AP15s second hand buy them in a heartbeat otherwise SP120s are your next 'go to' fan imho.

Second the block choice as above, the LTX feels cheap.

One of the reasons I looked at these fans is because they have been reviewed to perform well on rads, despite the SP not being great. They also fit in well with my colour scheme.

The 2nd reason was due to the size of the rads I plan to use. The top rad will be 38m thick and the front 64mm giving better cooling due to the size. I was hoping this would mitigate the lack of SP when compared to the preferred fans.

You spend too much time looking at reviews lol. I tend to play with stuff and find out first hand, the DS fans aint great mate. They look amazing, but they're noisy and perform poorly compared to other fans at the same price point (SP120s, second hand AP15s)

Pretty sure I called it in the announcement thread that they look pretty much the same as Spectre Pro's and you seem to have confirmed it in all regards :D

ikr, i didnt know they were going EOL.
i bought some new fans like 1-2 months before they announced EOL and they cost me 13 quid each lol
if i'd had known, i'd bought a few more =x

Unfortunately, I cannot afford to keep trying first hand, reviews are what I kind of rely on. As well as the forums.

EOL Mate :(
I made a mistake and sold most of mine, only have 3 left!! They're by far the best fans for rads tbh, good luck finding some :D

I wouldn't touch these.

They are not aesthetically pleasing, despite being highly rated and recommended.

Sp120 Quiet editions are perfectly fine for noise and performance I've found. Not as good as GT's of course (which I also use), but they worked well enough with AX rads for me.

I think they're a good compromise anyway :)

Yeah, i bought some to go on my AMD rig because lets face it...they look amaze. I think there was 3-5c temp difference @800rpm vs the typhoons on a relatively unsaturated rad (120.3 with only 300w to cool) increase the FPI or the amount to cool and the lead will be greater towards the scythe fans.

Might compare them again, but try and get 450-500w to cool, but against the SP120s as its pointless comparing EOL products now :o

Aye, my money would go with SP120s now.
Slightly nosier than the GTs @800-1200rpm but offer marginally worse performance, nothing dramatic.

I've used the SP120 quiet editions on a previous build, but have decided to give the dead silence fans a go on my new build and performance wise there isn't much difference from what I can tell. The biggest difference is noise, and for me, the dead silence fans are definitely much quieter at 12v. They are slightly louder in push config than pull but there isn't much in it to be honest.
