i origionally posted this is the general section but as im intending on overclocking i though it may be better in here

ok i have £1200 to spend on a base unit that i will be seriously overclocking (never overclocked in my life), i need:

CPU, M/BOARD, RAM, GFX, HDD, CASE, PSU & COOLING, i intend on going with a AMD (obviously) and a DFI board. i would prefer water cooling but its not a must. i am a major gamer so am only interested in machines that are stable

TIA

what would that be capable of prime-stable, also wouldnt a Ultra-D be more suitable as im not getting a Nvidia card and am not intending on going crossfire (and a saving of £25-30)

around 2.6-2.8ghz should be possible, remember this is a dual core CPU. And I picked the SLI board cos they tend to have more features even if you wont use the SLI

The 165 has 1mb cache per core, the lowest X2 that has 1mb is the 4400+ which is £70 more. Also it is the manchester cores (512kb cache) that clock as well as the opterons with the Toledo cores slightly behind.

Depends on the voltage.
@ 1.6v it might lower it's life to 3/4 years but at 1.5-1.55 it should be good for 5 years

Sometimes they just die anyway, sometimes they go forever at daft voltages.
