Hi guys,

I'm looking to build a PC for gaming, with a budget for the tower of £800, and a total budget of £1000 as i need a monitor, and keyboard also. The budget is also slightly flexible, but don't go crazy =P

I don't require a mouse or operating system.

Any recommendations you guys could give would be greatly appreciated =)

Cheers,
Doug

ideally a month or under, unless something special is on the horizon =)

not in your time scale no then, will be 4 or 6 months away and then a lot more money even, just asking that's all

mouse not needed dad :)

and nice spec and good vga choice, better than mine again

Damn, my eyes aren't as good as they used to be...

You'll get into the swing of it..

EDIT: Just noticed the PSU in my spec is FULLY Modular (the 24 pin comes out too).. I want one. :)

thanks for the fast response, like the look of the monitor too.

I would like a SSD and would i need aftermarket cooler to overclock the CPU?

An SSD is always good, and 120GB like the one in my spec above is bang on..

To overclock an aftermarket cooler is needed really. The Matterhorn in my spec is really good value and will easily help you to 4.3-4.5Ghz. :)

That PSU and Keyboard are Out of stock..

Yes I know, but as the OP is not buying immediately they may be back in stock, when he does decide to buy.

have you got a time scale? ie can you wait for maybe a new socket / cpu to come out or do you need it in the next few months?

Not keen on Zaks spec, I'm pretty sure the Asus VE monitors ghost pretty badly and the case is very basic i.e pants

Better SSD, RAM is faster than needed but for the sake of a few quid and the fact it has a lifetime warranty might as well. Monitor has good response times and dual HDMI input, although is a little smaller than the other ones suggested so far. I'll take the Silverstone over the OCZ and it's also fully modular not that it matters much.

All food for thought :)

good to know about the monitor, was going to order one in the next few weeks with a new vga card :) so thanks for that honosuseri, sounded like a good spec as well, online reviews wasn't half bad as well, just goes to show you can't go by what you read then i guess with reviews :)

size was nice and price, thanks for the info, saved me buying a donkey

I think you know me well enough by now to call me Hono ;)

That screen is also a LCD panel. LED is better quality wise and consumes less power. Quite a lot to consider when buying monitors.....avoid TN panels, VA are pretty good and a good compromise from getting an IPS panel which usually cost more cash

i need a new one after i saw the Microsoft's Illumiroom demo Hono, mine is old and too small so a bigger one one be better for me now, also prices and game offers have gone for vga upgrade so i'll wait a while longer for both or see what happens.

a 27" LED for that price would be nice :)

or wait for the Samsung S27B750HS 27" Widescreen LED Monitor - Glossy as thats as much as i wan to pay

You are hijacking the thread Zak...naughty boy ;)

Yeah the Benq is nice. I'd be tempted by the Samsung now as that's a preorder price once in stock it will go up. Some videophiles will say that 1080P isn't good enough for a 27inch panel but upping the res seriously ups the price and of course makes life harder on your GPU for gaming.
