That reference card will be loud though. And correct me if I am wrong but is not softpedia seen in a similar way as The Sun (newspaper)?

I've never seen the stock cooler on a GTX660ti described as loud though.

The link was just the first one that popped up in Google.

I read about it back in December when I was on holiday but didnt read into any deeper until now, could just be a driver issue and so easily fixed with a later one.

Hi guys,

I've come up with a little build, which could use some checking over please :)

I've dropped the HDD and upgraded the SSD to 240gb. With a plan to buy an internal hard drive at a later date.

What do you reckon?

Lets go through one by one.

GPU: Good choice.

SSD: Not so reliable, the M4 is cheaper and much better (just update the firmware and speeds will surpass the agility.

CPU: Perfect [edited for clarity :) )

Monitor: Decent. Though you can get a samsung 24" for the same price.

Motherboard: Perfect

Case: Ghastly, personal choice though. [EDIT: The case is great, big, spacious and with ample cooling]

CPU cooler: Wrong, will not fit. You picked the 2011 socket only CPU cooler the 1155 cooler (the same model) is the same price also.

PSU: I would get the modular one

RAM: Good

Keyboard: Good, though the G105 is another option

OD: Good

Here are the parts i talked about:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Crucial RealSSD M4 256GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive (CT256M4SSD2) £164.99
1 x Samsung S24B300BS 24" Widescreen LED Monitor - Glossy Black £129.95
1 x Noctua NH-D14 Dual Radiator CPU Cooler (Socket 775 / 1155 / 1156 / 1366 / AM2 / AM2+ / AM3 / FM1 / FM2) £59.99
1 x Corsair Builder Series CX 500w Modular '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply (CP-9020059-UK) £49.99
1 x Logitech G105 Illuminated Gaming Keyboard (920-003655) £32.99
Total : £450.50 (includes shipping : £10.50).

Nearly there. :)

To be fair to the lad, if the mobo picked is perfect then so is the CPU :p
Bump up the marks a little :)
Great looking system though, am looking at a near identical spec yself soon.

Prefer the Samsung SSDs though. Great speed/reliability balance IMHO

1 x Plextor M5 Pro 256GB Extreme Series Solid State Drive - (PX-256M5P) £185.99
1 x Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £167.99
1 x Samsung S24B300HL 23.6" Widescreen LED Monitor - Black £129.95
1 x Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £89.99
1 x NZXT Phantom 410 Enthusiast Midi Tower Case - Red £84.98
1 x Silverstone Strider Plus 500W Modular '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply (SST-ST50F-P) £67.99
1 x Alpenföhn K2 Mount Doom CPU Cooler (Socket 775 / 1155 / 1156 / 1366 / 2011 / AM2 / AM2+ / AM3 / FM1 / FM2) £51.98
1 x Corsair XMS3 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX8GX3M2A1600C9) £41.99
1 x Microsoft SideWinder X4 Gaming Keyboard - Retail (JQD-00006) £32.99
1 x OcUK 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM £16.99
Total : £1,128.53 (includes shipping : £14.75).

Better SSD, even better than the Cucial, the standard 840 is also slow the Plextor I have picked is the rival to the 840 Pro. Avoid the sandforce controller on the SSDs which is what the corsair uses.

K2 Mount Doom is as good as the Noctua just cheaper. RAM is a reputable brand, better CAS rating too and is also low profile, colour coded to the mobo aswell. Better PSU that is also fully modular should that make a difference to you.

Hope this helps :)

Avoid sandforce controller? Really? Could you please give me brief about sandforce issues? As per my research, the sandforce issues of the past have been very well resolved and the latest releases are performing quite convincingly
