Amd Newcastle 3500 skt939
Abit Av8 3rd eye
Tagen 480w psu
2x 512mb crucial ballistix
6800gt 256 galaxy gfx.
75gig Raptor
250GB Western Digital Caviar SE16
case is a Antec black piano case

I will also have about £800 plus what ever i can get for the bits ill be getting rid of above what ever that will work out at im guessing around £1000 mark? maybe more maybe less i havnt got a clue.

What i want is the best gaming system with some overclocking in mind i want the best bang for buck components that will overclock and last for a very long time to come this upgrade has gotta last.

my monitor is a Samsung 930bf with a native res of 1280x1024 but i dont mind going over board with the graphics i want all the eye candy i can get in game :D

So what will i be able to get with my £1000??

Had a little look myself, put this together

BFG GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail £254.99(£299.61)
EVGA nForce 680 (Socket 775) PCI-ExpressDDR2Motherboard£179.99(£211.49)
Scythe Ninja Plus Rev.B Heatpipe CPU Cooler (478/754/939/940/AM2/LGA755) £32.99(£38.76)
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC) £137.99(£162.14)
Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB)
£177.99(£209.14)

Sub Total : £783.95
Shipping : £8.95
Vat : £138.76
Total : £931.66

Now would this all go together with my HDD's and tagen 480w psu? also would it fit into my antec black piano case? Dont forget i want to overclock the pants off it so if the psu isnt up to it what would you recommend?

Fill in your planned overclock along with all fans etc... on that page and see how many true watts you'll need...
Personally i wouldn't buy a new psu even if the site would give me more as 480 watts, i'd just keep my old, use it, keep using it if its stable and only buy a new psu when pc is unstable...

Worst that can happen is a bsod, freeze or reboot under stress when having a poor psu ( i know from experiance, having owned a generic 300 watts psu and a q-tec after that )

Unless i done something wrong that site recommends a 682w psu! i did have to put the gfx down as a 8800gtx as a gts wasnt listed. so what ya think? get a new psu and what one?

odd, i got 441 watts on your specs without fans etcetc just with mobo, ram, cpu, gpu and 2 hdds on a huge overclock ( 3.8 ghz) ( with cpu on stock 380ish watts came out)

I'd say keep the psu, unless you have like more than 4 fans, and an overclock of over 3.8 ghz or something, 480 watts is enough...

You can always buy a new psu if your old isn't good enough... ( what im saying is try it on your old psu 1st, you can always buy a new psu, but selling your new if it later appears your old was good enough, is another matter... )

Right ill be getting this lot just after crimbo just in the new year :) is there anything coming out in the short time scale that would be worth waiting for to come out about before my decision is final?
