Well 2GB sticks are newer and probably dont OC as much as 1GB sticks do although saying that if you go 1x4 GB sticks then your more likely that 1 stick dont OC much. If you want to be sure of a good overclock (3.2GHz) then get some 6400 stuff and you could run it as Sync and it will still be the default speed of 800MHz meaning you dont actually overclock your RAM and therefore if your CPU can hit 3.2GHz your RAM wont hold you back even if you cant overclock them by 1Mhz.
could you do the same with 4x1gb of 800mhz ram?

Actually i was wrong, i cant multiply lol

Intel Quad Pump their CPU's, so 800 x 4 = 3600 (3.6GHz)
so that means that i could theoretically go to 3.6ghz without touching the ram?

i fort i read somewhere that 800mhz ram is actually only 400mhz but becasue of dual channel or something... not sure what i'm on about lol

I'm an idiot, 800 x 4 = 3200 (3.2GHz) so yeh you could run your CPU at 3.2GHz and leaving your RAM at stock of 800MHz.
cool so should I just get the cheapest 6400 2x1gb ram and buy two (4x1gb), is the ocuk stuff up to scratch?

Yeh might aswell go for the cheapest stuff, the OCuK stuff are perfectly fine although they usually dont have such great warranty etc.

Not sure about the dual channel mode with 4 sticks though. I'll have a search.
