spec me please

Hi, a friend needs a new tower.

He requires a case, psu, some sort of core2duo, a good motherboard, a hard drive, ram and probably a dvd writer (as he already has 2 IDE hard drives and most new motherboards only have 1 IDE connecter on). He already has a pci-e video card.

Had a look at a 3ghz core2duo, but maybe a quad is best? I havnt looked into pc parts since I built my e6600 machine and things have changed a bit.

Looking to spend 500 max

Is he willing to overclock ? Whats the primary use of the computer ? Whats priorities to him regarding spec?
Whys the hard drive needed if he has 2 already ?

the current hard drives are low on space and slow (IDE), and he just wants them as extra storage.
The pc's main use will be wow, CS and internet browsing, but all this is on a 22inch screen and he does want it to be a reasonable rig this time next year.
Deffo will not overclock

its a x1800xt but hes happy with it. that spec looks good cheers
