Hello, some of you might have seen my thread about OCZ RMA, well the chances of me getting the PSU back are negligible. I don't want to spend much, as I don't game that much anymore.
My budget is 50-70 quid

I was thinking about

600W Inwin Commander III Desert Fox Power Supply 80+ GOLD
EVGA SuperNova NEX 650W 80+ Gold
Thermaltake 630W 80+ Bronze
EVGA 600B 600W 80+ Bronze

I want the quietest and most trouble free PSU...

I've heard that some of these PSU's, had fan problems already. I never heard of this make anyway, EVGA is known for a good customer service which is a big plus for me. I might get my PSU from OCZ in month or 2 months time, It's been nearly a month now... A week ago they told me the PSU was sent to a different address and the RMA number is not on the system anymore...

Edit

This PSU is 75 at my local shop, I'm buying the PSU today after college. Some of the listed might not be stocked at OCUK...

Edit2

LOL, you're right it is 95 quid CLICK

OK well good luck with getting it all sorted :)
I put up the superflower as it is within your budget...although myself I chose to go with Seasonic...but its quite a bit more

I was preprepared to order it on Saturday, but then yesterday I had a look at my local shop. EVGA is new (sort of) to the PSU industry, but they are quality, If you know what I mean.

The fan issue was limited to the leadex gold units. Super Flower have been around for ages, just not available in the UK. They're sold under Kingwin in the USA. In case you weren't aware, SF actually make the evga g2 power supplies.

If I was buying a psu for the spec in your sig, I'd get one of these. 450w is plenty, you will never use more than 250w. All gold rated and well within budget.

Be Quiet E9 450w
SuperFlower Golden Green HX 450W
Seasonic G450

I didn't know that, thanks for mentioning it! ;) So it really doesn't matter, if I buy EVGA or SF?

So my PC under 100% full load will not use more then 250w? Some ppl were shocked, when I was buying 600w for this spec.

Yes, it will never ever use more than 250w. I used a 7950 with 2500k and when playing battlefield 3 the entire system only used 180w.

450w is the perfect amount (as long as its a good quality one with 2 pci-e connectors). It will give you the best efficiency at idle and under load, cost less and even enough room for a more powerful gpu in the future.

So my electric bill will also look better, with 450w 80+ gold then 600w 80+ bronze? :D

SuperFlower are one of the best PSU manufacturers around, on par with Seasonic and Enermax, but somehow at a much nicer pricepoint. :)

Also the drop in electricity use would be due to the better efficiency rating rather than the wattage output.

Definitely.. how much you save depends on your usage. I'd guess your pc will use about 10% less power.

Ok, this is my last (gaming) build, as I don't have that much time as I use to. So only gold rated 400-450w, if its bronze then pick something like 550w?
Last question, I've a AMD II X4 640, 4GB ddr2 ram 500gb HDD, optical drive ATI radeon HD2600 PRO with some PSU which costed 20 pounds. What usage does this have, when only browsing the net? Would it also be better to use the onboard instead of hd 2600 pro?

The efficiency doesn't affect how much power the PSU can provide, it just affects how much it pulls from the wall to provide the rated power. :)

I'd personally go for the 550W Golden Green. Stonking PSU for that price really.

I'm guessing you mean this One? The only bad thing about this, its not modular...

Yes thats the one. You should be able to tuck the spare few cables behind the motherboard tray quite easily in your case? :)

It would be a mix of both, mainly the gold rating but also the wattage. Higher wattage psu's have lower efficiency in idle and with OPs system a 600w psu will never enter the sweet spot for efficiency.

Stick to a gold 450w if you can, they usually last longer too due to better components. If you want to get one as cheap as possible then you can't go wrong with this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-073-BQ&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=1083

I'd stick with the onboard if its just for browsing, it'll use about 50 watts, maybe up to 100w if the cpu needs to work. The graphics card will increase power usage and offer no real benefit.

Ok, 3 years warranty should be enough for that BeQuite. If an smaller PSU will be more efficient and last longer, than I'll go for it.

Cheers, I'll remove the GPU once I get back home.

Also check this ** Sorry link is that of competitor. Maybe you could replace with an image with the competitor info removed **

Over 1,000 sold and 0% RMA rate. You don't find that often. 2-4% is the typical range for a psu ( can't link to this store as they would be ocuk competitor :( )
