Spec me PSU

Thats even better! The only thing that is worrying, is the CPU powet cables if they'll reach. P280 is an full tower case...

Doh, you're probably right. Checked the be quiet website and it does seem to have shorter cables than some of their other ones.

l8 400w
Cable length to mainboard (cm)45
Cable length to first connector (cm)45
Maximum cable length (cm)90

E9 450w
Cable length to mainboard (cm)55
Cable length to first connector (cm)55
Maximum cable length (cm)115

Unless he ever plans to get a 290x/780ti the 450w version would be a wiser choice imo, especially since its in stock :)
I was thinking of upgrading cpu/mobo/ram, but at the moment this pc does everything I want. The GPU plays everything I want, so the 450 is the winner.

I can't find how long the CPU cable was, in my PC Silencer MKIII 600w

The older golden green 450w has the same length motherboard cable but slightly shorter cpu.

The EVGA 500b will definitely have cables which are long enough and its only 40 pounds...but it's not quiet from the reviews I've read. The fan increases in speed with any kind of load.

Superflower only make the EVGA 1000G2/1000P2 and 1300G2 units. These are the only EVGA units worth buying. All the rest have recieved mediocre reviews and are either made by HEC (430/500/500B/600B) FSP (650G/750B/750G) or Etasis (Classified 1500). There are far better units available than the lower powered EVGA psu's.

60cm was just about right, little bit streched. Less than 60 will be too short, if I wanted to put the cable at the back.

I'm actually not too bothered about the shorter cable, so I'll probably buy that BeQuite.
What about XFX Pro Series Core Edition 450W was this made by Seasonic?

You could always buy a couple of extension cables if the ones on the psu are too short.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Silverstone 8-Pin EPS to 4+4-Pin 30cm ATX/EPS Extension - Black £4.99
1 x Akasa 20/24-Pin 30cm PSU Extension Cable (AK-CB24-24EXT) £3.98
Total : £12.89 (includes shipping : £3.26).

Yeah, but I'm probably gone order XFX (longer cables then BeQuite). Is this XFX a good buy, by the way or should I buy BeQuite + extension cable? I'm not too bothered about the make, just want quiet fan and reliability...

The XFX is a good choice for the price but it won't be near as quiet.

The short cables on the l8 400w might be an issue for you, no point paying extra for extensions when you could just get a different psu. Measure the distance from the bottom of the inside of the case to the 8pin cpu connector on your motherboard. If its under 40cm then you can likely make it reach by routing the cable across the motherboard.

If its over 40cm I'd either sacrifice noise and get the XFX 450w or pay extra for the Be Quiet e9 450w. I have the 400w version and it is easily the quietest psu with a fan I've ever used. Of course there's also the super flower hx 450 but I've got no idea how quiet it is.
