looking for a gfx, single card, current gen

the most important spec i want is silent as possible, doesn't need to be passively cooled. overclocking doesn't matter, just stability.

my monitor res is 2560x1600, so something with plenty of mem

i was thinking of getting an asus 4870 1gb with the dark knight custom cooler (although that card doesnt seem to be in stock anywhere)

current card is an xfx 8800gts 640mb, its fan cooled but not loud

Well I have just ordered mine....

Lets see if it lives up to the hype....shame I will have to wait a week or 2 for it to arrive but at £391 delivered I can wait for tha saving...
 
strange, i saw the 4870 1gb for £200 elsewhere about a week ago. now it appears to be out of stock and prices are going through the roof.

anyway, i was thinking about the 4870 so if required, i could add a trad2 cooler if the sound was too loud/temps too high.

im abit worried about ati drivers not being as good as nvidias, is there an nvidia card of similar spec and sound level out there?
