I've had a wander about and can't seem to find a thread about them, so after a little help. I have a coffee machine that is on a timer so it can power on 30 mins before I need it so it gets fully up to temperature and then turns off shortly after I leave the house. It's currently on a mechanical timer, so has no granular control. I'd like to be able to have a week time and a weekend time that it turns on and off, with the option to manually activate and deactivate during the day. This seems like a smart plug would be the way to go.

I've seen the TP link ones work with their own app and will also work with Alexa/Google. We currently have neither of those devices, but are not adverse to getting one. We do have a Firestick already. Would appreciate any help/pointers. Ta

Any WiFi plug. If you're not intending to go much further than the odd plug don't go more complicated.
It connects to your wireless home network and there should be an app for your smartphone that lets you define on off times etc.

However once you start you're probably gonna end up with everything voice activated and on timers with RGB lighting everywhere :p

I went with tplink kasa ones - they integrate really nicely with Home Assistant and also have things like energy use as options (ie measure how much energy your devices are using)
