Hi Guys,

I have recently got back into cycling, generally going out about 3 times a week after work. However, with the daylight fast fading in the evenings now, I am wondering if you can spec me a set of lights.

Don't really have a budget per se, I guess anything reasonable, ideally that come with rechargeable batteries if possible, and able to either clip on the top of my helmet, or on the handle bars.

Much appreciated for your help!

Have a look at Ay up lights. For what they are they are very reasonably priced. Extremely versatile with various mounting options and extremely well made. If they are too much then have a look at cateye lights. :)

Cool! Thank you all for the replies and the suggestions, as I said I don't really have a budget, as I don't know what one would consider reasonable for bike lights?

Its something that's never crossed my mind before as I have never really done any night riding.

Keep the suggestions coming in, I will look into all of the ones people have mentioned so far!

:)

What sort of night biking you will be doing dictates what sort of light you need. If its on city roads then its a case of be seen. Not to see. So super bright lights are pointless. In fact - the law is a little grey in this area but some lights could be seen (pun intended) as illegal. Small but bright LED lights are adequate. If you ride on country roads then get something decent. If you ride off road then the brighter the better. 1500lumens plus!

To be honest, its a complete mixture, involves cycling around golf courses, through fields and forests, and road riding in between.

A lot of the places I ride are poorly lit at the best of times so I guess I'm not overly worried about the rear light, as long as it works.

Thinking probably a decent light on the front (one that is used to be seen) with a more powerful light on the helmet (to see) so that I can switch it off when I'm riding on the road.

Think that would probably be the best of all scenarios.

So probably looking to spend about £200 max for all lights I think.

Thank you for your help :)

I have a set of Gloworm X2. They are 1300 lumens but only 80g. I think other helmet lights are too heavy. In fact it's so light that it's not really noticeable.

I got them when they were £130 but they are now £150 which is cheap compared to other options out there.
