You know what I mean, you are playing a particular game and really enjoying it. Then you get to the stage where you think "Ahh, must be near the end now" and then all of a sudden something happens and you think "Jeez, theres MORE!!!". :D

Having just bought and played through COH : Tales of Valour I was left a bit miffed by the shortness of the SP campaigns.

But I've played a couple of games where I have been surprised at the length of the SP mode/campaign/storyline.

So spec me some more!!!. :D

max payne was just the right length imo :)

Agreed, yeah. Spookily enough I was thinking of reinstalling Max on my work laptop just for a laff. :D

Tried Kings Bounty?

Nope, will look into that.

Last one I played that springs to mind was C&C RA3. You finish the first campaign and then restart and find that you can play through all over again with a different faction.

Yeah I agree with Half Life, the changes in pace and twisting storyline artificially lengthens the game to be much more involving than almost every other fps.

Also maybe Deus Ex, I seem to remember I played it a long time when it came out but that might be because I was trying different specs for my character. Have to give it another play through soon to refresh my memory.

And of course Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 just for length and depth of storylines.

Not too sure about more modern games, they're all pretty evenly paced throughout the playthroughs, fighting pretty much the same enemies all the way throughout, which often results in them being unmemorable and feeling short just because everything stays the same throughout the game. At least most of the modern rpg's and fps games I've played. Don't get me started on vanilla Oblivion :) Haven't tried Titan Quest.

Condemned: Criminal Origins was good and felt quite long if a remember correctly.

Stalker - you can spend days just wandering around (which was often more fun than the storyline). Also applies to Clear Sky.

No One Liver Forever (and NOLF2) seemed to last a fair while.

Agree with half-life.

TF2 has taken over 500 hours so far and I'm still not finished

Still remember over 25 hours playtime through Deus Ex the first time, which was cool because it was all so engrossing.

King's Bounty, as Draeger says, seemed to go on forever as well!

I put over 70 hours into Fallout 3, but then I knew I was leaving the main quest on hold for a while. Amazing how sucked into long strings of side-quests I got, though.

Would also echo the Titan Quest shouts - especially with the Immortal Throne expansion. I bought both together having never played it before and ended up getting to Hades on Impossible on my third straight play-through before I decided enough was enough.

Spellforce 2 and the expansions took me what seemed like forever to get through as well.

I remember playing Resident Evil 4 back on the ps2 and when I got to that old road after the village I thought it was over  turned out I hadn't gotten even half-way through:p ended up at the castle next and was bloody chuffed. It wasn't that the game was very long, just that I was mistaken and thought it was very short  my friend freaked when he thought he had completed Castlevania...only to find out later the castle reverses for part 2 :p ...then he really freaked :D

Civilization - starting a LAN game with a friend implies that any plans over the next twelve hours have just been cancelled and that some sort of fast food company has just made £10.

Good lord this. The last CIV game I had involved 3 of us sat in a flat on a Friday evening, playing without sleep until Sunday morning. Many pizzas and beers later, we passed out satisfied with the weekend. :)

BF2.
I've played it since 1 second past 9am on day of release & still play it now. I'll play summit else for a bit but will Always come back to BF2, No other online FPS even comes close to a 64 man Infantry only server.

The only other game I would compare for longevity is Forza2 but that's on the 360.
