Spec me some gear

We have a legal copy of windows (shock horror, yes I know), is the licence transferable to totally new machine?

Thanks

Yep just type it in

According to the link posted:

What components can I change in my system before I invalidate the OEM License?

There is a general consensus that the OEM license is paired with the motherboard. You can generally change any other component bar the case where the COA is attached. If you change a significant amount of hardware you may be asked to reactivate, but this doesn’t mean that you are necessarily unlicensed.

However, you can change the motherboard under a warranty claim if the motherboard was faulty. But, if you are simply upgrading for feature or performance enhancements, you would need a new OS license.

So I need a new licence?

With regard to the mobo, the manual states under the heading "Storage":

2x Ultra DMA 133/100/66/33 interfaces for four hard drives

As you say, a floppy drive cable is provided, so I guess it has such a port.

The other cables are 1x IDE cable and 1x Ultra DMA 133/100/66/33 cable. What is the difference between these two?

Thanks

Typo? Because both should be the same

Also if '2x Ultra DMA 133/100/66/33 interfaces for four hard drives' then that means 2 IDE Ports :)

I was thinking you maybe should change that ram to the £117 (inc vat) G.Skill but the high CAS Latency might not be worth it dont know.

Hi, just wondering why you ordered Crucial over G.Skill? The G.Skill is cheaper and faster?
Just always buy Crucial. Never had a problem with them. Never really look at anything else! :p
