Im looking for:

1 Sub - 12" or Bigger
2 Door Speakers - 5"
Tweeters x 2
Amps x However many neccessary
Back Shelf Speakers x 2

I have a head unit so don't worry about that :D....

Budget = £300

I got some Fusion 5.25" components JBL GTO 1004 amp and JBL GT4 12" sub (2nd hand) the other week for my car and it came to about 200quid for that lot. Probably best to post on talk audio for specific recommendations.

I got some of them 5.25" fusions in my Yaris, good quality sound, im gettin the 300W sub and the 6x9's when i get paid :D

Fusion is some of the best gear around apparently :D

For the price point its aimed at its pretty good.

Get a 5.25" component set and forget the rear speakers, you will be able to get a single amp to run in tri mode to run both the speakers and the sub.

What music you listen to determines what sub you should get, but 12" is a good all rounder. What music do you listen to?

Fusion and Fli are really good brands....

If you can make your own box, buy a 12" fli sub which is 1000watts and 250ish rms which kicks a good punch.

No idea on amps sorry but if you can spend boost your budget a bit more, you could get some vibes 6 by 9's ...

I have just looked at halfrauds and you can get ;

# Encounter 5.25'' Car component speaker system
# Encounter 6x9'' Car 3-way speakers
# Encounter 4 Channel amplifier
# 8 Gauge amplifier installation kit
# 6'' Converter plate

for £150 and then spend the other £150 on a other amp and sub.

That lot in a yaris?!?!?

Yeah :D I have 2 10CM 100W Pioneers in the front dash, and the 2 5.25" 180W components in the doors along with the Tweeters in the dash, with 2 splitter boxes.

I need to fabricate a bit of a bracket to stop the parcel shelf form dieing and bending but should all fit :)

Fusion and Fli are really inexpensive brands....

The RMS rating is what you need to look at, the 1000w is misleading as its a pmpo rating with is used to confuse and make the product sound better than it is, which in this case, you are never going to get a lot from 250w RMS.

I've never been a fan of 6x9s where subs are used. There is a lot of debate on the subject by people far more knowledeable than I. They all recommend not using 6x9s with a sub...

I've never heard of Encounter, but I'm willing to bet that at those prices it won't be much cop. Stick to Fusion and you won't go far wrong for your budget. I would say, get a fusion sub and amp package first and then save up a bit more on speakers and an amp later.

My advice is to also make sure you do the wiring properly. If you are unsure of anything, don't try to bodge it as you will end up with a very charred Focus. I can't express enough the importance of using the correct gauge wiring and making sure there is a fuse within 18 inches of the battery and before the wiring goes into the car through the firewall. I've seen the pictures of a 320 where the owner hadn't bothered and it made me :(

The OP said he wants some 6 by 9's, i was only going by the fact of what i hear it is good and what is used mainly at the club i am in the people who are skint but what a good enuff sound system. If i was the the OP i would save for a Rockford amp and sub and some decent speakers and tweeters.

Ecounter is the model of speak made by Fusion BTW :P

Sub and 6x9's are good used together when not a powerful sub is used.. if you got a 1000W sub and 6x9's its poor quality.

Oh yeah, I agree. The trouble is that loads of people put 6x9s in an install and use ultra cheap stuff, we all start somewhere eh?:D

Car audio is all very subjective though, but ther is something for all budgets. I agree he should save a bit, but the question is where do you stop? I have spent 499 on a set of component speakers before now and 800 on an amp. Crazyness to a lot of people but not to me at the time.

Personally I would buy two sets of same model 6x9 and forgo the sub totally if that were the case. We did this in a S2000 once and it sounded very good.

If you want some clear bass which isn't over the top, get your self some of these.

These will set you back 100odd quid, spend a other £100 on a amp and then get some some speakers and tweeters with the rest of the money.

I have heard these 6x9s and they really do sounds the dogs.

Brand: Vibe
Description: QB69
Type: Co-axial
Size: 6x9"
Number of speaker elements: 2 way
Max Power: 600W
RMS Power: 200W
Frequency response: 30-25000Hz
Sensitivity (1W/1m): 93 dB
Impedance: 4 Ohms
Custom Fit: No

You don't want 6x9s, they're rubbish, and will only get nicked. They look daft too. Upgrade the front door speakers with a component set and amplify them. Then fit the sub in the boot and amplify that. Sound is supposed to come from the front not the back :p

Sub and box - plenty around that price though. the type-r isn't much more.

Amp - can be had for £95 elsewhere i think

Comps - I'd spend a little more and go for the rainbows, but these are very good for the cash. I'd try and fit adaptors and 16.5cm comps if you can.

Use the remaining for a cabling kit etc and make sure you mount the speakers with some mdf mounts.

Forget 6x9's.....they're tosh!

do not, i repeat do not get **** by nines

get some good comps for up front. JBL is a very good budget brand/entry level gear across the board, subs, amps and full range speakers inc comps.

worry about up front, if you start putting speakers in the rear of the car (6x9's) and no fronts then the next time you go to a gig/concert stand with your back to the stage as that is what you are doing when you put rear speakers in a car.

go for a decent stereo with sub setup and amp the lot

this 4ch amp will allow you to run your full setup, fronts off ch A left and right and then you can bridge your sub on the B ch to give it more power.

http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/2911.html

for a sub, this should be as good as the old GT4-12 series, very loud of little power

http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/8335.html

these comps should sound sweet, they are rated 55rms, the amp will put out 75wrms, just dont have the gains too high and all will be good.

the rest, spend on a wiring kit, shouldnt need to spend more than 30 quid.
