I'm off to India for a few months with work, and will only have a laptop with me. Unfortunately it will be a company laptop, and therefore I imagine fairly low spec. Hopefully I'll be able to get a Core 2 processor and at least 2GB of RAM, but I can't see the GPU being anything better than an Intel integrated lark. With the Steam sale being on, now seems to be the time to pick up a few games to tide me over.

I assume that Civ 4 will work on those specs? Can you suggest me some other games? Any genre aside from racing...

Cheers :)

Warcraft III + expansion
Deus Ex
Open TTD
Baldurs Gate 1/2
Grim Fandango
Dungeon Keeper
Fallout 1/2

All aging a bit now, but still good fun and should run fine on a lower spec machine :)

Off the top of my head I would recommend...

Recent games:
World of Goo
Plants vs Zombies
Ben There, Dan That (free!) / Time Gentlemen Please!

Golden Oldies that will run on anything:
Good Old Games, loads of classics there.
X-Com series
Fallout 1&2

Fallout 1 or 2
Deus Ex
Plants vs Zombies
World Of Goo
XCOM (First and Second)

All these you can get on steam

Civ 4 might struggle with integrated GPU, but is worth a try

Solitaire
Baldur's Gate
Diablo
Half-Life
Doom
Quake
Worms
The Sims
SimCity
etc etc :D

Defence Grid The awakening, fantastic little gem, braid and trine too and torchlight.

Torchlight, plants vs zombies, braid, trine, world of goo, Total annihilation (freeware version available) C&C series, half life 1!

NeverWinter Nights, plus expansion packs. If you've got internet connection there's tons of fan made content to keep you busy.

Low spec games don't have to be old ones.

Try out these...

Osmos
World Of Goo
Beat Hazard (if you have lots of music)
Plants vs Zombies
Shatter
Trine
Braid
Torchlight
Armadillo Run
Defense Grid
Defcon
Trackmania

Just looked up and most are already mentioned, oh well xD.
