That's right, I need some oats for my shakes. The ones I have currently make it really gritty, even after spending ages making them as fine as possible in the blender.

So, what do all you guys use?

I guess it's preference really. I've been blending Asda value oats for ages and although I have to end up chewing the last 10% of my shake, I don't mind. Saying that though, I have just ordered some of those fine scottish oats from myprotein. I'm thinking the difference will be amazing.

Thank you for the suggestions. At the moment I'm using Quaker 100% wholegrain rolled oats.

I think I'll try some of the supermarket variants first and if it still tastes gritty then I'll buy a 10kg or so tub of Ultra Fine Scottish Oats from MP.

When I first started grinding my own oats (that has to be a euphemism for something!) CW suggested Tesco Jumbo Organic ones. They are really tasty, much oat-ier than value or Quaker oats but do cost a little more. If you can afford the extra special/taste the difference/organic types try them. If not then you're going to have to put up with the fact that oats won't dissolve in water and you're basically creating an oat suspension, the finer the oats the better the distribution. The grit is good for you - its fibre!! :p

@MSM - I can tell you now the difference won't be "amazing" but they are very fine so create a consistent texture throughout. Whether they're worth the extra $$$ and the limited availability is a personal choice.

itll taste like a smooth creamy porridge. Unless your like some of the fags on here who are like "eeerrrrgh it tastes like sick and dead people" it really doesn't if you like milk and porridge you'll find it refreshing and light. When i glug one down after a heavy train its honestly like popeye and spinach, ive even said "DING DING" once or twice, lol what must people think of me.

EDIT just noticed you got the isolate i use WPC80 but i dont imagine much of a difference in flavour

It's not the isolate.. lol

I happen to like porridge so I think this will work out well. £18 for 5lbs of protein is a bargin! I was paying £35 for Optimum Nutrition stuff.
