after faffing about for ages with a cheap set of Jump leads tonight i've decided that seeing as I couldnt steal the RAC mans set I may as well invest in a good quality set.Dont want a portapack set as they seem a bit gutless(I buy sell cars and vans ) and most likely to be jumping off some form of transit or Vag Derv :)

c'mon ocuk spec me some top notch jump leads

should have asked the RAC man where they get them and got the same set.

As long as the cables's thick enough, isn't a jump lead a jump lead?

But it's the cable thickness that decides if it's a good jumplead or not ....

I got a set from America, the tend to have bigger cars over there which require more current to turn them over. Look not just for good cable (although that is very important) but also the quality of the connection between the cable and crocodile clip, this is where my previous set tended to get very hot.

Jump leads have to be 800amp plus to be considered heavy duty & even some of those come with mickey mouse terminal clips on.
What you need is 16ft of 800amp cable and two of the best crocodile clips money can buy and make your own. They will last a lifetime and be better than any you can buy off the shelf.

You buy and sell cars? What sort of insurance do you have? My brother wanted to do this but the legal issues were a big stumbling block.

open traders policy costing me 40 quid a month,

covers any vehicle up to 7.5 tonnes for buisiness and any vehicle up to 3.5 tonnes for sdp
