Spec me some salt & pepper grinders

Let's get a 2020 update to this. I've been wanting salt and pepper mills for awhile now but can't find anything that that ticks all the boxes. I looked at the T&G CrushGrind Apollo posted here 7 years ago

Still using the same ones, it's money well spent!

If, like me, your requirements from a grinder are for it to be highly adjustable, durable, cleverly designed and robust, you can't go far wrong with these from IKEA.

Apart from being practically perfect in almost every way*, they don't make a mess of your kitchen cupboards, having been cleverly designed to sit 'upside down' rather than in the normal fashion.

Nothing else I've used has come close to matching them. And I do a fair bit of cooking in other peoples kitchens and have come across some absolute tat in my time - most recently these and these.

And a special mention goes out to every single battery-powered grinder I've ever had the displeasure of using. Hateful bloody things.

*apart from only being sold in IKEA, which might be a problem.

This, someone asked me to pick one up for them once, and I grabbed one myself after a quick look, they're brilliant and cheap as chips. Little salt bowl on the side in kitchen for big rocks when required and got covered for every eventuality.

I have these too and they're excellent. I particularly like that you can adjust the size of the grind.

Got the oxo ones sat here now, didn't realise they were so big! Already been used in anger and performing flawlessly.

I had a pair of ceramic salt and pepper mills from a small shop in Duesseldorf, but dropped and smashed one of them, gutted. Nice ceramic burrs on both salt and pepper.

Can't seem to track down a replacement.....

I have the IKEA ones mentioned early in the post from 2013, they are absolutely excellent value for £10 for the pair.

now I've seen them I am interested in the OXO ones though as they seem a lot easier to adjust than the IKEA ones.

I have had a Peugeot pepper mill for the last two years. It is very consistent and doesn't drop loose pepper like the cheap acrylic mill it replaced. The variation on the grind size is also very good. Works very well and really pleased with it.

To be honest we get the spice emporiums salt and pepper grinders which are from either the range or B&M they seem completely fine.

Came in here to recommend these. I bought 2x pepper ones as they are more durable than the salt one.

Edit: Turns out the latter half of my sentence only applies to a different model of the OXO stuff. Myth busted.

Annoying that I didn't see this a couple of months ago, before I replaced my substandard grinders with another set of substandard grinders. I'm tempted to pick up a pair of the OXO ones but it feels a bit wasteful to replace something so quickly. Hopefully they'll break soon to give me a good reason to replace them

Struggled for years with rubbish ones that would break after a year or so before finding these, got a salt and pepper one. Flawless operation, look great and good as the day we bought them. They'll now break tomorrow I'm sure
