I'm sick to death of buying a tube of super glue, using it once and then coming back to it a year later and it's unusable.
So spec me some where I can use it a year later and it hasn't clogged the hole up.

Thanks

blimey! how much is this super glue?

i usually slice the end off and hey presto the front of shoe soles are good for another 12 months then a few drunken falls and 12 months later it's back out with the carving knife to unblock the super glue again. been going since 2008.

araldite or uhu have been my favourite brands. if i had to choose one, araldite would edge it. just don't get it everywhere, it's a tough little sod.

interesting memory i've just had of my dad reading a snippet in the paper, probably about 1988/89 about some poor bloke who used a public phone and some oik had superglued the handset and the firebrigade had to free him. unfortuanetly, the brand of glue was not disclosed.

As a builder of RC models I have had the same problem.

The only conclusion is that cyano goes off.

I now buy smaller tubes and I am prepared to bin it when it goes bad.

It does go off. I use the flexible black picture branded stuff which I get from a friend in the engineering trade. He gives me unfinished bottles as their company policy is to bin the remainder after a job as they simply cannot guarantee it's still in spec the next time it's used once opened.

I hardly ever use superglue now, these days glues are far more specialised
so if I ever need to stick a hedgehog to a space shuttle, 3M probably make the perfect adhesive for the job.

ROFLAO!

Quoted for truth!

(However! I am still a bit old fashioned myself. The idea of flying in an airliner held together with glue still puts me right off, even though I fully understand all the technical advantages! )

pffft ive done the testing in labs at uni , the metal fails before the glued joins do !

so if anything be worried about flying in airliners made of weak metals

I tend to just buy a large pack from the pound shop and dispose of them when I'm done. I don't notice the difference in strengths and I'm not putting it on crucial things that could have adverse impact on failure, so I don't see why not.

3 step guide to keeping superglue fresh

Wipe the nozzle clean with a wet cloth.
Replace cap properly (make sure you get the click)
Store it upside down

That usually keeps it ok for me, although I've never left it a year. I think that's asking a bit much for cyano glue.

You would probably be better off with the squeezy gel one.
