Spec me some tyres for certain terrain

Its time i buy some new tyres...

As i'm new to MTB, ive done no research so after some advice and maybe some links. I have ££ limit of £40 really.

I mostly ride Afan, mostly this trail and type. They must be decent on gravel also

Maxxis minion or a high roller 2 would be my choice

I love Hans Dampf, but they die very quickly (so much so, that I won't buy them anymore, no matter how good they are).

For Afan-esque riding (and everything else for that matter), two Specialized Butcher Grids, or a combo of Butcher Grid for the front and a Purgatory Grid for the rear. Alternatively , I'd get an Maxxis Ardent rear and a Minion DHR2 for the front (or HR2 for front)

I is being having a Maxxis Minion DHF/DHR2 on the front and back - they're great for dry / damp mud/sand/rocks. Not so great in really wet stuff or lakeland shaley/slatey wetrocks. Is ANYTHING good on those things, around Whinlatter?

Wet specific tyres would be terrible on wet slate / rocks. What you have is as good as it's going to get, you just need to be better

I was fine, really. I just either avoided the really nasty stuff if I could or just rolled over it and didn't try to be clever. My gf slipped on it and then blamed her (my old bike) tyres (continental mountain kings, with the black chilli compound).

I never had much of an issue with them, though they are quite old and getting a bit worn now.... I said it's cos she kept braking on stuff, and he disagreed... so I just shut up.
