Or more specifically, a place to buy wallpaper. I am loathe to do the soul-destroying ritual of actually going out to look at stuff so anyone got a good place to look online?

Wallpaper is expensive, lucky I only have a crap one-bed shoebox to decorate. :D

How's it a pain to get it online, surely you just measure your walls, buy enough to cover, profit? Or am I missing something?

Well, you won't be able to feel the texture or how good quality it is.

I like it too, but it'll make your room very dark unless you just do a feature wall with it.

Yeah that's what I'm planning on, I have a wall with a window at the end of the room I think it would look good on. Think the window would break the black space up a bit? Christ knows what to do with the other walls though.

Wouldn't the wall opposite or adjacent to the window be better for lighting? In my rooms, the walls with the windows on are the darkest already. A mirror, painting or wall light can be used to "break the space up a bit".

Your other walls would have to be painted or papered a light colour. White would go well with that I think. Don't underestimate how much darker a room will get when you lose the reflectiveness of light-coloured walls.

Maybe the adjacent wall would look better, I'm just going through ideas really. The whole place is painted 'council house cream' right now, I've put up with it for a while but I'm starting to get depressed by it.

After thinking about it, brown would be a better idea since that's what color my sofa/carpet are. Not really wanting to replace all my furniture. :p

I know that feeling. I bought my apartment brand new and all the walls were painted magnolia. It felt like it was a hospital or something so I ended up painting all the rooms again before I'd even moved in.

I've styled every room quite differently and I think it's much nicer that way.

p.s. please don't do brown walls + brown carpet!

Do people still paper whole rooms or did the bottom fall out of wallpapering hence the abundance of "feature wall" paper?

No idea, I was planning on it but only because I was too retarded to think of a feature wall.

The hell am I meant to do then, my sofa and carpet go together as they're roughly the same brown, ***** do I do with the walls though?:mad:

The folk who i bought my house from went wallpaper mad. All walls are papered except for the kitchen. However, it was tastefully done, and they've mixed two types of wallpaper to still create the 'feature wall' in the two bedrooms.

I'm planning on redoing the whole house, started in the bathroom last year but still got to finish the floor there (carpet atm!) and I think I'll tackle the lounge and my bedroom next.

Dancing girls, white on black 3 walls, black on white 1 wall, /thread. :D

That Natural Hessian doesn't look half bad actually, a few shades lighter than my carpet, which is in turn a few shades lighter than my sofa so I think it would work well.
