Well im out of touch with games tbh, Spend 95% of my PC gaming on Arma 3 and the other 4% on flight sim and 1% on Battlfield 4. I recently upgraded my GPU to a 980 and sat along side the i7 i feel i have yet to see what it has to offer. Arma is so badly optimized that it does not even use the hardware correctly.

ideally im looking for a shooter and no aliens although i did like crysis and crysis 2. however i want somthing that is going to just Wow me on the visuals. I only game @ 1080. so whats out that will Wow me and put a bit of load on my system ?

Ryse: Son of Rome with DSR at 4x native resolution and the best AA settings along with it (Not in-game AA, that makes it look worse)

Although it's not a shooter, and doesn't have the best gameplay, the incredible graphics with a very cinematic story does make you go WOW

cheers guys some food for thought there. Might try out far cry 4 first as i will prob enjoy that more. However that Ryse does look Epic in the graphic department just really not my kinda game (swords have never been my thing) I really like simulation games too if anything pops to mind on those too

GTAIV :D, but really even with some of the shady optimisation of the console ports, little really shows what a GPU is made of like Crisis 3 with high AA settings on.

I've always had the general impression high end system optimisation is a "if we run out of stuff to do" thing.. the focus is on making sure the product runs on the bog standard/average setup above all else, otherwise the publishers would throw a hissy fit due to missing out on the largest chunk of the market

Take the likes of World of Warcraft, World of Tanks... 2 different games, different ways of making money from the user, both popular.. in the case of the former even a decade on, what they both have in common is you could run them both off a toaster

Both companies behind each game could easily afford to redevelop their respective products on new/better engines, but they'd actually stand to lose players through this as those with enthusiast setups are pretty much in the minority especially in that particular genre (online/mmo)

Although its a while off, I'm sure the new GTA will give your rig the workout it desires when it finally hits the shelves :P

If you like sims, how about Assetto Corsa?

I Have that :) everythig maxed out and it does look good, however not "amazing" maybe i just have too high expectations. Thanks for the suggestions guys i will try crysis 3. I liked 1&2 so will try 3 out.

It will be interesting to see if gta does actually use pc hardware and really deliver on the graphics side of things. Having got it for ps3 & ps4 i cant say the ps4 version was light years ahead of the ps3 vesion, there was inprovement but im not convinced that its using the ps4 harware to the max.

metal gear solid: ground zeroes owns all. out of the box it's pretty cool.

skyrim plus mods is a 980 muncher but you will need half a day to sort it all out.

crysis 1 with mods is still a system killer.

take care if running 4k as 980 doesn't have enough vram for dying light or mordor max settings.
